Ciobair Herds the Dog that Chases the Cow

I took the typical cat toy idea and turned it into a large scale dog toy.  This is a great toy for multiple dogs to teach impulse control and to create an off switch for dog's chase instinct which is imperative with a border collie puppy (pair it with sits, downs, leave its, stays).  In this picture, my friend is demonstrating how it works. Simon is chasing the "cow shaped" toy while Ciobair seems to be herding Simon.  It's a perfect situation.  Look how he can turn on a dime.  It's great to see their different methods come out and especially great when they work together to capture the 'cow'.

When Tree Shade is Not Enough

When the heat index is over 110 degrees, sometimes shade from a tree is just not enough. Ciobair is demonstrating is "peakaboo" (walking and sitting between legs) trick with a different handler.  Cute huh?

AKC Sanctioned Conformation Match A

Originally I was in attendance as a supporter and spectator because Ciobair was not quite old enough to compete.  In the last 3 minutes before the start of the match, I was offered to show "R" in the conformation ring.  I quickly took her to the ex-pen, picked up her show lead, pulled out some tasty treats, and hoped for the best.  I pulled her off to the side and attempted to bond with her moments before being called into the ring to be judged.  Her primary handler was also in the ring and I soon realized just how much R loves her handler.  She was whining and pulling towards her and I honestly thought she was going to pull me around the ring and make me eat grass.  I was surprised how comfortable she was with me handling and stacking her. In the end we pulled through and she showed me just how intelligent and sweet she is.  She was given 1st Pl in "Open Bitch." Thanks Juli for trusting me with her!
